In an alternate universe...

Hey guys!

Today I made a space manicure inspired by the talented Tam of @ohmygoshpolish.

I started off with a black base of piCture pOlish Darcy. Afterwards I followed this tutorial by Tam with the following polishes: OPI Silver Canvas, OPI Primarily Yellow, OPI Chromatic Orange, OPI Purple Perspective, OPI Turquoise Aesthetic, and OPI Pen & Pink - all from the Color Paints collection. I added the moons and small planets with a dotting tool and the white OPI Alpine Snow.

This solar system is almost the same as ours as Earth is no. 3 planet from the Sun!

Today I made an awesome gradient inspired by amina2inspire!

For the manicure I started off with a white base of OPI Alpine Snow. Afterwards I used a make-up sponge and the following polishes to make the gradient effect: Sally Hansen Pacific Blue (original), piCture pOlish Instinct, and OPI That's Hula-rious.

I think this color combination is really cool!

Pastel Galaxy

Hello ladies!

Today the sweet Milena of Nail That Design and I made another pair of twin nails together - this time we made a pastel galaxy manicure.
You can check out Milenas blogpost here!

For the manicure I started off with a white base of OPI Alpine Snow on all my nails. Afterwards I used a make-up sponge dabbed with random blobs of nail polish (piCture pOlish Chillax, piCture pOlish Instinct, and piCture pOlish Mad Magenta) followed by a white layer to tone them down and make them more pastel, to make the gradient effect. Then I applied the holographic glitter China Glaze Fairy Dust to all my nails. To finish everything off I used a small dotting tool, a small nail art brush and the white nail polish to add small planets and stars.

I really like how our pastel galaxy manicures turned out!

Fancy Friday: Sand

Hello ladies!

Today it is time for another Fancy Friday manicure!
This week's challenge is sand and/or water. I chose sand and made this liquid sand manicure inspired by Nail That Design.

For the manicure I started off with a mint base of Essie Blossom Dandy on all my nails. When that was completely dry I used striping that a the silver liquid sand polish OPI It's Frosty Outside to make triangles going down the nails from the cuticle-area.

I actually made a water-inspired manicure before this one but is was the biggest nail fail ever!

Glitter Placement

Hey guys!

Today I have some simple glitter placement nail art to share with you!

For the manicure I started off with a black base of Essie Licorice on all my nails. Afterwards I applied blue and silver diamond-shaped glitter onto my middle finger, ring finger and pinky with a wax pen.

The glitter I used for this manicure is from Born Pretty Store. It comes in a pack (#20428) with diamond-shaped glitters in 12 different colors.
I like this glitter set as it is really cheap ($5.86 for A LOT of glitter), it can be used in many different designs and because it is a great kit for nail art beginners who love a little bling.
If you guys want to buy something in Born Pretty Store remember to use my coupon code SXKQ10 for 10% off your entire order and free international shipping. Check out their nail art items here.

I love a good glitter placement and I am really happy with this simple one.

Fancy Friday: Water Spotted

Hello ladies!

Today it is time for another Fancy Friday manicure.
The challenge this week is water spotted (a technique invented by cutepolish) and I made this simple beach skittlette.

For the manicure I started off with a blue base of By K. Blue Fog on my thumb and pointer, a white base of OPI Alpine Snow on my middle and ring finger, and a beige base off By K. Jet Steam on my pinky. Afterwards I made a beach-inspired gradient with the three polishes mentioned above on my middle and ring finger. Lastly I used the white OPI Alpine Snow, room-tempature water and hairspray to add the water spot design to my middle finger, ring finger, and pinky.

The water spotted technique is really hard to do, but I like how this turned out anyway.
What do you guys think about this beach-inspired skittlette? Let me know in the comments!

To the left, to the left

Hello ladies!

Today I made some nail art that is very special to me.
I am politically active, so I made a manicure inspired by my political party "Venstre" (which is Denmark's liberal party).

For the manicure I started off with a white base of OPI Alpine Snow on my pinky and ring finger, and a dark blue base of Essie Style Cartel on the rest of my nails. On my ring finger I painted the V of Venstres logo with a small nail art brush and the neon orange China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.

I really like how this turned out!

Mani Swap

Hello ladies!

Today I have a mani swap with the sweetest Milena of Nail That Design to show you guys.
She chose this blue ombré by me and I chose this freehand flower crown design by her.

For the manicure I started off with a nude base of Essie Adore-A-Ball on my middle and ring finger and a pale, yellow base of Dior Sunwashed on my other nails. Afterwards I freehanded the flower crowns on my middle and ring finger with acrylic paint and a small nail art brush.

I really loved working on this mani swap with Milena and I love how it turned out!

Tutor

Hello ladies!

A while ago I made this manicure when I applied to be a tutor at psychology at Aarhus University. Unfortunately I did not get the job, but I still want to show you guys the nail art I made!

The manicure is inspired by my experience of the first week of university (where you party with your new classmates and your tutors).
The clown on my thumb symbolizes all the fun we had, the kisses on my pointer is inspired by all the love I got and gave my tutors and new classmates, the flower on my middle finger is inspired by one of my professors who always say that psychology students are the flowers of Denmark's future, the book on my ring finger is a symbol of the (very limited) academic content of the week, and the beer on my pinky is self-explanatory.

You guys are welcome to ask how I made the nail art or which polishes I used!

Ikat

Hey guys!

Today I have some nail art to show you - an ikat design!

For the manicure I started off with a blue base of Deborah Lippmann Blue Orchid on all my nails. Afterwards I used a small nail art brush and the white OPI Alpine Snow to freehand diamond shapes around my nails. Then I did the same inside the white squares with the orange Essie Peach Side Babe. To finish off the ikat design I used black acrylic paint to outline the white and orange squares with 'fuzzy' lines.

I have been wanting to make an ikat design in forever and I love how it turned out!

Denim

Hello ladies!

Today I have some nail art to show you guys - a denim-inspired skittlette featuring zipper water decals!

For the manicure I started off with a light blue base of Essie Salt Water Happy from the new Essie Summer 2015 collection on all my nails, except for my pinky which I painted blue with Essie Pret-A-Surfer from the same collection. Afterwards I made the denim effect using the dry brush techniques with the opposite polish than the base. To finish of the skittlette I applied silver studs to my pinky and silver zipper water decals to my middle and ring finger.

The water decals I used for this nail art is from Born Pretty Store. They come on a sheet (#4915 in the color Silver) with a lot of different zipper designs!
I love these zipper water decals because they are amazingly easy to use, so fun and pretty, and because they are budget-friendly (they are $2.27 for a sheet for many manicures)!
If you plan on buying something in Born Pretty Store remember to use my coupon code SXKQ10 for 10% off the entire order and free international shipping. Check out their nail art items here.

I love how this manicure turned out!

Most Used Polishes

Hello ladies!

Today I would like to show you guys my most used polishes!
With the exception of my base coat (OPI Nail Envy), top coat (Seche Vite), matte top coat (Essie Matte About You), cuticle oil (Essie Abricot Cuticle Oil), white polish (OPI Alpine Snow), and black polish (Essie Licorice) - each of which I went through several bottles of - these are my most used polishes!

First off is the blue and green tones.

L-R: OPI Dating a Royal, Essie Mesmerize, Sally Hansen Pacific Blue (Original), Essie Mint Candy Apple, and Essie Pretty Edgy

Luckily I have a back-up for Sally Hansen Pacific Blue!
Now into the pink and red tones.

L-R: Essie Fiji, Essie Lovie Dovie, Essie Lollipop, and By K. The Sky is the Limit

I have also used a lot of the two glitters Essie Set in Stones and China Glaze Fairy Dust, but not nearly as much as I have used the above polishes.

I did not realize how much I have actually used of these polishes before I lined them up for the pictures!
Which polishes have you guys used the most? Let me know in the comments!

Fancy Friday: Mother's Day

Hello ladies!

Today it is time for this week's Fancy Friday manicure.
The challenge today is Mother's Day. I made this ruffian manicure, as my mother complimented my nails the last time I wore this design, and it is azure blue, as that is her favorite color!

For the manicure I started off with a silver base of Essie No Place Like Chrome. Afterwards I used the azure blue nail polish Essie Hide & Go Chic to make the ruffian design.

I really like how this manicure turned out and I hope my mother does as well!

Bling

Hey guys!

Today it is time for some simple nail art featuring rhinestones!

For the manicure I started off with an off-white blue base of China Glaze New Birth on all my nails except for my ring finger, which I painted silver with Essie No Place Like Chrome. Afterwards I placed  different sized rhinestones on my ring finger with a wax pen.

The rhinestones I used for this manicure is from Born Pretty Store. They come in a wheel (item #14483) with rhinestones in four different sizes.
I like these rhinestones as they are really pretty, because you get a lot for your money (it is only $3.58 for many, many uses) and because they are really easy to use!
If you want to buy something in Born Pretty Store remember to use my coupon code SXKQ10 for 10% off and free international shipping. Check their nail art items out here!

I love a good accent nail, and this one is no exception!

April Nail Art Challenge: Family

Hey guys!

Time for another manicure for the April Nail Art Challenge with Fancy Friday!
Today the challenge is to be inspired by family. I told my little brother to pick out some polishes and he chose a blue, a green, a white, and a black. I made this dotticure inspired by Rijah with the polishes my little brother chose.

For the manicure I started off with a blue base of Essie Butler Please on all my nails except for my ring finger, which I painted white with OPI Alpine Snow. Afterwards I used a medium sized dotting tool and the two polishes I have already mentioned, the green By K. First Class, and the black Essie Licorice to make the dotticure.

I really like how the ring finger turned out, but I don't know if I like the color combination on the other nails.

April Nail Art Challenge: Fan Brush

Hi girls!

Today in the April Nail Art Challenge with Fancy Friday the challenge is fan brush and I made this simple skittlette.

For the manicure I started off with a mint green base of Essie Blossom Dandy on all my nails. Afterwards I used a fan brush and Essie Garden Variety to make the dry brush effect on my middle and ring finger. To finish off the skittlette I applied China Glaze Fairy Dust to my pinky.

I know this is not a "classical" fan brush manicure, but I made another manicure and it was a major nail fail, so I made this one instead!

April Nail Art Challenge: Orange

Hello ladies!

Today I have another April Nail Art Challenge with Fancy Friday to show you guys!
The theme today is orange (which I interpreted as the fruit and not the color) and I made this orange half-moon manicure.

For the manicure I started off with a blue base of piCture pOlish Swagger on all my nails. Then I freehanded on the half-moon oranges on my middle and ring finger using white acrylic paint and the two orange polishes Etude House OR202 and L'Oréal Lush Tangerine. Lastly I applied the holographic glitter China Glaze Fairy Dust on my pinky.

I think this is a fun interpretation of today's challenge!

Time for another manicure for the April Nail Art Challenge with Fancy Friday!
The challenge today is blue and I made a blue leopard manicure.

For the manicure I started off with a light blue base of Deborah Lippmann Blue Orchid. Afterwards I used a medium-sized dotting tool and the blue scattered holographic piCture pOlish Freya's Cats to make random dots and blobs around the nail. Then I used a small dotting tool and the dark blue Essie After School Boy Blazer to outline the dots with different C-shapes.
